"Stalin's Letters to Dimitrov, " yet another volume in the Yale Univ. Press series, "Annasl of Communism." This one co-edited by one of the oldest US Sovietologists (of a menshevik bent, see the chapter in Stephen Cohen's, "Rethinking the Soviet Experience, " from Oxford Univ. Press on Kremlinologists, also Walter Laqueur, "the Dream Failed: Reflections on the fall of the Soviet Union, on same and the Andre Liebich vol. on the mensheviks from Princeton Univ. Press.) Anyway, skimmed a little this morning, was surprised at the criticism from Georgi Dimitrov circa 1934 about the Third Paeriod , "Social fascist, " line. /"The Oligarchs, " new book by David Hoffman of the Wash. Post on the Russkie kapitalist thieves of the 90's. Just published. Has a blurb from Michael McFaul, so I'd think if the eXile was still around they'd slam it. Looks solid though.
