We in the west have two recourses when experiencing strong feelings: acting out and repression. There is a third way. It's very simple: you simply feel the feeling, you look at it, you merge with it, as it were, rather than letting your thoughts take over and "directing" you that "no you shouldn't be feeling this way" or "yes, you should, you're goddamn justified...and by god, you're going to do something about it."

It is extremely interesting to see what happens when you try this alternate mode of having feelings.
