Good question. Since the negotiations were done secretly by the two top officials of Pacifica without consulting even the rest of the board, no one knows.
But I'm reminded of Alexander Cockburn's reaction to (false) rumors that Murdoch was going to sell the NY Post - impossible, it would be like Dracula selling his coffin.
