Afghan Pipeline plan revived
Three central Asian leaders yesterday agreed to revive a $2bn plan to pipe Turkmen gas 1,500km to Pakistan now that the fighting in Afghanistan has largely ceased.
The project was last fully investigated by a consortium led by Unocal, a US oil company, which decided in 1998 to pull out because of the turmoil in Afghanistan. Unocal said yesterday it had no intention of getting involved again, but believed the project could work -- David Buchan, London.
