Sorry, I don't get it. My father is an Askenazy jew; my mother is Romanian. My father's side of the family is blonde-haired and blue-eyed; my mother's side is swarthy, slanty-eyed, with black hair. In Romania, the way you could tell a Jew was whether they were fair; having red hair and freckles was the acid test of jewishness. As for racism in Israel, that has been amply documented: basically, the arab jews are cast as white trash and the Palestinian/arabs are cast as cockroaches. They used to get a lot of PR for having extended citizenship to Israeli arabs; but now that demographics are catching up with them, there is talk of expelling these once-convenient "citizens."
As for Finklestein, I read his "Holocaust Industry" book and thought it took a great deal of courage and faith to write it and publish it.
What is it you feel needs defending about the current regime in Israel? How do you see that the actions of this regime make Jews safer world wide?
