I would say, is to fight for work under TANF auspices
to enjoy the same status as jobs in general, with FLSA
protection. Minimum wage, EITC, SS benefits, etc.

Here in San Francisco, the General Assistance Advocacy Project, led by the very able Steve Williams, along with other groups, has fought hard against our corporate liberal crook, Mayor "Willie" Brown, to pay workfare clients a living wage. Haven't won yet. County employees that sweep the streets make $16 hr.+. GA recipients for the $375 a month must work off the cash grant 8 hours a week. Michael Pugliese
