I haven't seen "Training Day" and, till now, dismissed it as a typical
studio cop story. I thought Denzel won for other films (which is usually the
case -- I mean, Russell Crowe wins for "Gladiator" but not "The Insider"?)
and the fact that his films make money, and that he plays the game. All
pluses. (Which makes me wonder about Sean Penn -- two Best Actor noms in
three years, and the guy openly hates Hollywood.) But this discussion has
intrigued me, and now I want to see the Big Performance.
