Who's "she"? The Russian nationalist (I figure the "r" in "first" belongs wit theh precesdin prognoun)? Well ain't that typical. Chauvinists, fundies, pomo welcomes you in its broad historicist embrace. If that's the way it's gonna be, I say roll back the stalinists. I assume she has other charms ;-)

As for the band, well that Serbian tuborock I mentioned and Goran Bregovitch, who used to do scores for Custurica and also made a big hit in Turkey, and ZSZ, they all sound the same to me. In fact I prefer the Serbian variant bec it's more heavy metal.

She's certainly got charms, but I won't be finding out about them, because, as a non-ethnic Russian, I am undatable, though I am go-to-a-concert-withable. :)

BTW, Baudrillard is pretty trendy in Russia. The translation of his "America" has a long, 40-50 page intro applying his analysis, if you want to call it that, of the US to Russia. The two countries really do have a lot of similarities.

Also BTW, Kusturica has his own band -- he plays guiter for No Smoking Orchestra, who are reasonably well known in Russia and sing in English, Russian, German and Serbo-Croatain, if you don't know them.

ZSZ's first album, Hardcore Moldovanesc, is a lot more mettalish than they're later stuff. They started off as a Rage Against the Machine-type band. The lead singer's grandfather is a really famous Rumanian/Moldovan singer -- I don't remember his name though.

I'm off to go take a walk on Red Square. Beaitiful weather, can't stay indoors any more. Ta-ta!
