>Kelley: You are out of touch with the mood of America.
if you hadn't noticed, i wasn't giving you a synopsis of the mood of america! you have that pulpit, so bang away. i was pointing out how chomsky might have played to whatever was out there just a tad better than he did. i DID say that i think USers want to know the motivation for one's critique. If the critique is that there is utterly nothing good about the US, then the critics points won't get very far. who wants to hear about what shits they are. does that encourage you to listen to someone who's criticizing you and your behavior. or does it come off better if someone reminds you off your own ideals and expects you to live up to them?
so, in light of that, i said:
1. bennettbarf is a real fucker. stick with exposing his slimey lies
2. bennettbarf engages in rhetoric that whips people up into rah rah siss boom bah,
don't play to that by getting angry at bennettbarf and, basically, telling him he
should be ashamed of himself. why? not b/c bennett doesn't deserve the crits of him
personally, but b/c people are identifying with the US and Bennett and attacking
Bennett is attacking the people who are identifying with him. (in this medium)
3. emphasize the fact that he apparently DOES think that people are unhappy
with the things the US gov does in their name. Ask them to live up to their ideals.
give 'em a left version of the rah rah siss boom bah.
