No. Most of the people in the local  anti-war group  here probably would
be best described by that. A bunch  of them at this  very moment are
gathering at the Airport to greet  Senator Durbin with  signs
congratulating him for voting for  peace.

    Durbin in the mid-70's hung out  a bit with the chapter of the New  American Movement near where he lived.
(NAM was the org. that DSOC swallowed  up to create DSA. At the time of the merger, NAM had around 1,500 
members or so, DSOC, 7,000 or so. Growth projections by the, "optimists of the will, " have not, as yet, come 
true.) Doubt if Durbin ever joined up, but, in 2000 when pundits and politicos were making noises about Durbin 
being on Gore's short list for VP, I wondered if left committments in his past scared off the Gore camp.
