I'm a Minnesotan. People say that Norm has girlfriends. His wife, a drop dead gorgeous blond, is out in Hollywood half the time pursuing some kind of Hollywood career, while Norm supposedly cuddles up to other women in St. Paul nightspots while she's away. Some Dems were privately (with the exception of Keillor's public smear) outraged by Coleman TV campaign ads that portrayed him as a wonderful family man. In one ad, his young teen daughter talked at length and very touchingly about what a great dad he was -- "he listens, and he does what he says he's going to do. Above all, he has a great heart." Personally, I thought Keillor's commentary was unecessary and damaging to liberals. The deliciously nasty paragraph you quoted, Doug, is Coulterish, and Garrison thus threw away a lot of his credibility with those few ill-considered words. And consider Garrison's own hypocrisy here: 1) He rightly refrained from public commen on Clinton's very interesting personal life, yet didn't even wait for Coleman's swearing in before alerting every reporter in Washington to the new Senator's pecadilloes. Those reporters will be tracking Coleman like they did Gary Hart from his first day in Washington and that doesn't do Minnesotans any good; and 2) In the same article Keillor praised Ventura for his refreshing candor, which was the first nice thing he said about The Body in four years. I'll bet Garrison right now is regretting how easy it is to push the "send" button on his computer, and he should be.
