Tariq Ali in his autobiobography, "Street Fighting Years, " sez that David Rieff and his Mom, Susan Sontag, briefly considered joining the SWP in the late 60's.

For all the heat Sontag took for her comments on 9-11 in The New Yorker, she took bucket loads from some sectors of the left during and after her appearence at the NY Town Hall meeting to protest the repression of Solidarity in Poland in '82. Letters to The Nation were volumnious after she said, "Communism is fascism. Successful fascism." Hannah Arendt she isn't. Michael Pugliese
