Carrol,

Judging from the volume of emails you contribute to this list, I should think you would be hesitant to express outrage at others' passivity. Sitting on your ass and writing to LBO-list all day, as you apparently do, does not constitute political activity.

First of all the maoists, and other brands of stalinists, were/are anti-sexual. Since you are about the only one on this list who falls under that category, that statement was intended for you. If the maoists weren't antisexual, then neither is the Pope, since both think that sex is alright as long as it is confined to the monogamous marriage and serves God/the Revolution.

However, I think that a lot of the heterosexual Left (not all) is not anti-sexual per se...they are asexual. It's just too difficult to be both politically correct and sexual. So, it just doesn't happen. As I said, this problem seems to be peculiarly American, as I never encountered it in Europe. I would also say that it is more a problem with male leftists, a lot of whom seem scared shitless of women.

Thomas
