World Rock Paper Scissors Society Calls for Competitors,
Including Amateur and Non-ranked Players
TORONTO, Oct. 17 /CNW/ - Toronto has been selected as host city to the 2002 International Rock Paper Scissors Championships, presented by the World Rock Paper Scissors Society, the governing body of the sport of Rock Paper Scissors (RPS). The Championships, which will take place at The Mockingbird on November 16, will bring the world's premier RPS players to Toronto to compete for the Championship Trophy and a total of $2,000 in prize money.
The World RPS Society has opened the call for competitors for this year's Championships. This year, all non-ranked and amateur RPS players are invited to compete, in addition to professional players.
"In keeping with our strategy to get RPS used in all households as a fun and safe way to resolve disputes, we are opening the Championships to the general public for the first time," said Graham Edwin, Events Chairman, World RPS Society. "I strongly encourage all amateur and non-ranked players to enter."
The Championships will take place at The Mockingbird, 580 King Street West on November 16, 2002. As the governing body of the sport of Rock Paper Scissors, the World RPS Society plans and executes tournaments, conferences, symposiums and retreats across the globe.
