21.10.2002 10:29:00 GMT Russian corporate profits drop 28% in Jan-Aug
Moscow. (Interfax) - The combined pretax profits, less losses, of large and mid-sized Russian companies and organizations totaled 545.3 billion rubles ($17.3 billion) in the first eight months of 2002, down 27.8% from the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee reported.
The committee said that 48,400 companies posted combined profits of 735.8 billion rubles, while 36,000 had losses of 190.495 billion rubles. The proportion of loss-making companies in Russia was 42.7% in the eight months.
