What's mystical is the idea that prices of speculative assets should follow these patterns, and that you take your "knowledge" of these patterns and try to apply them to the semi-random inkblot-like price charts. And then, in Prechter's case, to say that social pheonomena like political movements and broad social moods, should follow the Elliott-dictated pattern.
