Maskhadov may be dead - Deputy Interior Minister Tikhomirov
MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Aslan Maskhadov may be dead, but one should not 
jump to any final conclusions, Russian Deputy Interior Minister and Interior 
Troops Commander-in-Chief Col. Gen. Vyacheslav Tikhomirov told the press in 
Moscow on Thursday.

   "There is no smoke without fire, but let us wait for a legal 
confirmation," he said.

   "The Interior Ministry is guided by facts, and it is not our business to 
make wild guesses. If the death of Maskhadov is confirmed, Russia will be 
the first to learn about it," he remarked.
