THE REBIRTH OF PROTEST MUSIC! "PEACE NOT WAR" 2XCD COMPILATION (PNW1CDX)
Peace Not War is a not-for-profit 2xCD produced to protest against the war, to inform and inspire music listeners, and raise funds for the peace movement. The combination of established and unsigned acts on Peace Not War bring a unique mix of genres and 31 new and old songs which redefine what protest music sounds like.
Produced and funded by a few people from America and Australia, based in the living room of a London flat, the home-grown compilation snowballed once Ani DiFranco donated a track. Soon 12000 double-albums crammed with anti-war music were distributed throughout Europe and in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The compilation was reviewed very well, usually rated at 4 stars. Now a revised edition of "Peace Not War" has been produced especially for the US, with 10 new tracks, to be distributed here by MORDAM RECORDS.
Some of the artists involved include Ani DiFranco, Billy Bragg, Chumbawamba, Crass, Massive Attack, Midnight Oil, Public Enemy, Sleater-Kinney, Yo La Tengo, and many others. (For a complete track listing see attached, or visit http://www.peace-not-war.org/ ).
All proceeds from US sales will go to US peace groups, with the United for Peace network being the main recipient. Bands and record companies have contributed their work, and the London-based producers intended that only the American peace movement should profit from the American sales. Each group receiving funds is committed to using totally non-violent methods to stopping the wars undertaken by their government since 9/11, and to promoting peaceful resolution to conflict.
NOTE: There are significant discounts available for peace groups. $5.00 each cash or credit card with a 25 box minimum, and individuals can purchase a box for a peace group for the same price.
