Hi Dave. Liza could say much more, but I thought it was one of those diseased emissions of American journalism, the man-bites-dog story that ends up utterly conventional. Ha ha, students conservative, aging boomer profs radical. Except that it's hard to get tenure as a younger radical prof, and there are plenty of activist students all over the place (and a lot of the activists are offspring of aging boomer radical parents). Some campuses are quiescent, some are very noisy. The reporter didn't seem to know much about the antiwar movement, or social movements in general. But it's hard to know too much and be a NYT reporter - the knowledge would get in the way.
