Ends/Means Re: [lbo-talk] What History Will Remember

Did anyone ever argue on this listserv that good ends justify all 
means?  If not, what's the point of saying that "the ends do not 
justify the means," as Chip did recently (and some have before him)? 
What ends does saying so achieve when no one is saying that good ends 
justify all means?
