The daily news is _exactly_ as illuminating as hour by hour stock market
reports. I think Lou Paulsen made this point a couple weeks ago in
reference to daily war reports, but it's true in peacetime as well. The
only news (other than local news of people you know) that's ususally
worth knowing -- no, the only news that does not seriously confuse -- is
that which is still news two or three weeks later, and that's probably
too soon.
