Cuba's achievements are admirable, but there are other comparable indicators. UNDP's global HDI ranks for 2002 show Mexico (54), Cuba (55), Malaysia (59). Colombia (68) and Brazil (73) are not too far behind Cuba. Argentina is placed 34th rank despite the recent crisis.

Ulhas

However, once you purge per capita GDP form HDI calculation, Cuba´s position improves, while Brazil fall in the ranking. A good comparison would be with Kerala, in India, as related to other states?
