The ACLU had no problem defending the Nazi right to march in Skokie, IL, because it supported the idea of free speech, even though nobody can seriously claim that it supported the Nazi ideology. In the same vein, I do not support the libertarian or fundamentalist Christian ideology, but I may support their efforts to gain control over individual states (see for example http://www.freestateproject.org/index.jsp), if they support a progressive effort to take control in progressively leaning states. Unlike trying to influence the corporate-owned Federal Entity in Washington, this strategy may actually work.
