I think that NAACP and other "black civil rights groups" would spend their resources more effectively if they focused on changing the behavior of certain black males instead of crying "wolf" each time these males get in trouble with the law.

The only leader who seriously tries the latter is Louis Farrakhan - but his ideology is too obnoxious to my taste.

Yes, obnoxious I would say, to the point of Gestapo-ism (if you'll forgive the coinage).

Listen, there a two ways of responding to Wojtek's point here, one sounds good like the motor of an Infinit G35 and also, like that late petroleum-age chariot, possesses a comforting sleekness masking many problems.

The other way is more nuanced and useful.

By the numbers then...

One. *As A Black Man*

As a Black man (or, if you prefer, *friend of Black people*), I find your comments offensive and hope you understand the embedded racism they display. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to Kinkos to fashion a placard for the march scheduled to take place, oh about now, in front of your home. I hope the batteries are charged in the bullhorn.

Two. *Yup, Crime's A Problem But Tell Me What The Fuck Are We Supposed To Do?*

Yes, you're right, there are thugs amongst us, some of whom are Black guys. And, in those cases when the police use force to restrain or otherwise deal with a fellow who's clearly doing double-plus-bad wrongness it's obvious that crying *brutality* and *racism* in an unreflective and reactionary manner helps no one.

Least of all the hood-rats and their victims.

But you're arguing that the NAACP should do something to stop this which I find as odd as claims that Britney Spears is an *artist*. There are activists and community do-gooders who're striving to assist/correct those who are ciminally minded but their efforts, heroic and necessary, are essentially akin to the use of a 9mm against a vulcan electric fired point defense canon.

Which is to say, they're fighting against an immense tide of anomie, of a deep purposeless that is the condition of modern America and manifests itself via many pathologies, among which crime is one of the most annoying and dangerous types.

Add racism into this mix and I trust you see the problem.

But, even so...

The NAACP should stop it's silly passion plays which vainly attempt to replay the glories of the old civil rights movement everytime someone with a permanent tan recieves a beat down or dies at the hands of enforcers.

It should be smarter, investigating, bringing actual cases of abuse to light even as it works to help those who are working to prevent crime-bots from spawning.

This would be, in a way, a leaner and more dangerous NAACP and perhaps that provides a clue as to why it's not the one we've got.

Because, helping to prevent criminality would lead you to an analysis of the causes of criminality which would begin with racism but not end there. In fact, the end analysis would indict capitalism and its values.

Now, those donations from Ford Motor Co, Coca Cola and Mephistopheles only knows who else would surely vanish into constituent particles if such an NAACP hit the stage with gusto.

So they're going to continue their fine work of staging reliable performance pieces about the cops while ignoring both the culpability of the hood-rats and the garbage world in which they were created.

Surely the synergy (a nice, old fashioned word) is obvious?
