Moscow welcomes international aid for normalization in Chechnya MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry welcomes the international community's assistance in normalizing the situation in Chechnya, a ministry representative told Interfax.

"We welcome all steps made by the international community that are triggered by sincere concern for stabilizing the situation in Chechnya and for its citizens' interests," the representative said.

"We are interested in further assistance of this type and are grateful to accept it," he said.

Donor-countries have sent relief aide to Chechnya through the UN, the International Red Cross and non-government organizations, he said.

UNESCO is implementing programs for restoring the education system in Chechnya. The UN High Commission for Refugee Affairs is helping migrants, he said.

The Council of Europe implements projects aimed at restoring the governance of law, human rights and democracy in Chechnya, he said.
