[lbo-talk] lynching

One would think that the rational response to hearing information that contradicts a held assumption would be to express interest, and that the appropriate emotional response if that assumption is a negative one would be relief. But never mind -- you win. Your judgement of the situation, which as far as I can tell is based on conditions obtaining in Russia when it was a rural autocracy, is correct and my personal experience has been illusory. All the people I know must be lying. Rabbi Satanovsky and Livshitz must be lying too -- those crafty Russian anti-Semites even impersonate Orthodox Jews. I must admit that giving Livshitz that American accent was a stroke of genius. No, nothing in Russia has changed in the last 150 years. In fact, things got really bad when the tsar organized a pogrom in my neighborhood after the latest anarchist bombing. It kept me up all night long. I was so pissed off that I spent the following morning working off energy beating my serfs, so I was late for work. Then I got in my troika and set off, and was even later because of the huge traffic jam caused by people trying to get into the IKEA. I hear there is war brewing in the Crimea.
