Pakistani province bans female mannequins
Indo-Asian News Service Peshawar, December 23
Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (NWFP) has banned the use of female mannequins, saying they are prohibited in Islam, Online news agency reports.
The NWFP government headed by the six-party religious alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) ordered shopkeepers and traders to immediately remove the mannequins - usually used in clothes and jewellery shops.
Traders and owners of such stores said police distributed copies of a circular announcing the ban.
Nearly a year ago, the NWFP government had removed billboards, hoardings and posters from theatres and video shops.
