Dark energy isn't non-existence; if it didn't exist, it wouldn't have any effects!
Clearly, this "dark energy" question is a frontier-of-science one which still needs a lot of work to answer. Interpreting the available evidence in the field of cosmology is not a cut-and-dried matter.
