I regret that family business in Los Angeles and work committments hadn't precluded attending more than one of the Bay Area United Against War meetings at a Church with the 30-40 activists (mostly Socialist Action, Socialist Worker Org, left Christians, and folks like former Ron Dellums staffer Ying Lee Kelley, but, the three ANSWER reps esp. the red-haired cadre, were consistantly outvoted on motions, and as the meeting wore on I could see his face get redder with anger. Jeff Paterson from NION/Refuse and Resist looked bored the hole time. Spoke only once. Great fellow George from the School of the America's Watch provided humorous ripostes. Loons from Uhuru House stormed out after their 500 Years of Genocide conference idea was met with face saving support after their race baiting. (The three from Uhuru House were white, btw.) Some old fellow shouted, "Bullshit." Heh. The two young anarchiist chairs did a good job keeping egos in check.

"Without knowing that we knew nothing, we went on talking without listening to

each other. Sometimes we flattered and praised each other, understanding that

we would be flattered and praised in return. Other times we abused and shouted

at each other, as if we were in a madhouse." -Tolstoy
