As well, if the tape is legit, doesn't it go a way towards proving Robert K Merton's "self-fulfilling prophecy" thesis - that "situations that are defined as real become real in their consequences"? Before all the US talk about OBL and the Iraqis being linked, there was scant evidence of it. Now, if OBL is trying to make appeals to Iraqis, it could be because the US propaganda campaign convinced them of their similar plights, drawing them together.
