Bird brained in Quebec

Indeed, and Quebec nationalism has always had a history of defining itself by isolating Others as not 'real Quebecers', or to use the vernacular not 'vrai laine', or roughly 'true wool', or old francophone stock; non-catholics, jehovahs witness, anglos, jews, immigrants of color, aboriginal. Saying who a quebecois is not has always been easier to use as a political weapon than saying who is and acting inclusively.

A sad part of the history of the human race.

P.S. And insisting that you're a 'Canadian', not an 'Ontarian', 'Nova Scotian' (aka Bluenoser) or 'Albertan' just gets you laughed outta the bar anywhere in Canada.

Funny, though, how often nationalism produces this stuff, isn't it? You need all those despised excluded Others to define the nation. And once you've defined the nation, you want to establish a nice hierarchy within it. I suppose there are exceptions, but they're not easy to find as this sort of thing.
