Errare humanum est. For one thing, even my detractors admit that my occasional rants do not spill over to the other areas of my thinking. For another, I have no nationalistic bone in my body, so national identities and labels mean very little to me. I tend to identify with people who share similar weltanschauung regardless of where they live, rather than with people who live in the same area and speak ostensibly the same language. When I visit Poland, I often discver that I have very little to talk about about with my former class-mates or friends. When I go to international conferences, I often prefer hanging out with my Western European, Canadian, Israeli, South African, or US colleagues than the Eastern European crowd.
