The '90s, "so over they never happened"

When I think of the 90's, I think of emu farms ("the next big thing!"), bad "alternative" rock (Belly and King Missile), the "caesar" hairdo ("George Clooney has one on ER!, so let's all get it"), big pants, and Titanic. Good riddance!

The one thing about the 90's, however, that impresses me more than this is that during the decade, if I'm not mistaken, workers were more productive than they'd ever been in US history (someone correct me if I'm wrong), resulting only in mild, if any, real wage increases, and a recession. Weren't we all supposed to be living a Jetsons kind of lifestyle by 2003?
