yoshie, you know i often think you make fine contributions in miscellaneous ways, but i find the above symptomatic of so much that bothers me about your arguments in general. that you consider "a pop culture phenomenon" so categorically worthy of dismissal speaks, imo, volumes: moreso, probably, than your volumes of postings to this and other lists.
