Anyone who thinks a political party is "Leninist" by virtue of it being a political party is out of his tree. That being said, historically political parties transferred class (or other) struggles into the political arena, where "experts" and "leaders" assume the reins and use these issues for their own career maneuvering. In the Leninist case, these "leaders" are usually academicians of one kind or another, eager to see the realization of certain ideological commitments.

As Noam Chomsky said, "Those who really have power in this society tolerate democracy only so long as it doesn't infringe on their power. If, through the parliamentary system, we ever began to expropriate industry, then the people who have wealth and power would destroy the parliamentary system. In this respect there probably wouldn't be any way [of anti-capitalist change] within this system."

In my view, what we're left with is organizing in communities and in workplaces to build the sort of base of support that any viable left-party candidate would need ANYWAY.
