I gave away a goodly # of my back issues of Monthly Review from the 70's and 80's recently, so cannot cite the titles from the cover of an issue from the late 70's that had the word, "Crisis, " in each one of the 4 pieces on the cover.
MR's I still have, April '80, "The Multinational Mineral Industry In Crisis, " by Robert Pollin. "World Crisis of the 1980's," June '81, interview w/Samir Amin. "Economic Crisis in the United States, " Dec. '81 by Paul Marlor Sweezy. "Crisis of American Capitalism, " Oct. '81, by Sweezy.
Now, whatever the merits in each conjuncture of catastrophism, methinks that along w/the habitual tendency for lefties to scream fascism, there has to be some type of bio-chemical blast like cocaine or somethin' that makes so many otherwise intelligent folks keep on hitting that button that predicts 8 of the last 3 recessions.
