I saw Pearl Jam in Boston last night and Vedder talked up Zinn several times, and later invited some people onstage with a "Zinn for President" sign. It was pretty cool. The band also handled the Iraq thing well: Vedder talked about supporting the troops, but only after mentioning the most recent shootings and talking about the pain experienced by the families of the G.I.s. Very moving.
The band also did a set of political covers, backed by Sleater/Kinney: there was a Ramones song I'd never heard of, followed by The Clash's "Know Your Rights," CCR's "Fortunate Son," and then "Rockin' in the Free World." Total blast; it was their 3rd show in Boston, and looked like a sell out.
