Rios Montt, former dictator of Guatemala, is running for that country's highest office in defiance of a constitutional ban. Here's a rather tame account of his past, um, "activities":

Recall that when Daniel Ortega sought to run for mayor of Managua not long ago, the Bush gang said that his election would pose "problems" for the region and that they would not look positively on that. In the spirit of democracy, Ortega withdrew. Say what you want about the Sandinistas or Ortega himself -- neither is in the same blood-splattered league as Montt, a mass murderer possessed by evangelical visions.

Maybe he should run here?
