I know I should be doing other stuff, but I couldn't rest until I found out more about the Danish submarine service. So I found this website: www.navalhistory.dk which is your one-stop source for the naval history of Denmark. Here is a list of all Danish submarines past and present:

http://www.navalhistory.dk/English/Naval_Lists/Fleetlist_subs.htm

This site is worth exploring but gives me a feeling of nostalgic sadness. This is a country whose top three Naval stories in the last 35 years have been:

The submarine Narvhalen was reported missing! But it was ok. Its radio wasn't working. http://www.navalhistory.dk/English/History/1945_1989/Narhvalen_savnet%20(197 0).htm

The "Battle of Gedser": an East German minesweeper bumped into the Naval home guard cutter MHV94 and dented it http://www.navalhistory.dk/English/History/1945_1989/SlagetVedGedser_1980.ht m

The guided missile frigate Peder Skram fired a missile by accident that blew up 4 weekend cottages but didn't hurt anyone. http://www.navalhistory.dk/English/History/Missile%20Incident.htm

I wish to hell my country had had so comparatively benign a naval history for three decades. And then they want to go and fuck up this recent history of harmlessness by participating in an imperialist slaughter. Crap.
