i don't know what to call it. people here have hoped/wished that the US suffers heavy casualities. i don't really have a quarrel with that and i've repeatedly pointed out that among supporters, a hardcore 40% and even among the lukewarm 25%, they appove of heavy US losses.

the other night i told a friend that, right now, i would be happy to take a terrist [tm] bomb my self if it would only show these assholes what the consequences are. it was a crazy response, but one i sincerely felt. i wanted something horrible to happen to teach those fuckers a lesson. rationally, of course, i realize that the only thing it would accomplish is a massive crack down in the US.

what i don't understand is why anyone wants to iraqi people to get caught in the crossfire. high casualties on our side will mean high casualties on theirs. these are not separable from one another. And even then, as a percentage of our population, it's nothing, whereas it's a much higher percentage of their population. (and I'm certain that they'll lose more lives in the cause of a political defeat for the US) Worse, ours will all be military; theirs will include plenty of civilians. sure, i can understand if you think they're fighting for a noble reason. but for a continued existence under SH or, worse, to fight hard only to be the recipients of our vengeance???

paranoid that now that i've wished a bomb on my head, i'll actually get it from someone who just doesn't like me! or a fizzlean!
