If this is true, hot damn

If this is true, it is because the US wants a ceasefire to buy time until it can deploy the troops currently en route from the aborted Turkish front. It's stretched too thin right now because of the strength of the Iraqi resistance. The Iraqis might see a ceasefire as opening the door for UN mediation, because they know they can't win in the long run. But hot damn is a little premature, and this is still only a rumour.
