An interesting anecdote on this issue:

About two weeks ago I got an email from a woman journalist who claimed that she was a "freelance writer" doing an article on the anti-war movement. Mindful of how I've been screwed over in the past by "freelance reporters" with sketchy backgrounds, and concerned that I not contribute to right wing attacks on the anti-war movement, I replied with a message asking for some examples of her writings, because I had been "screwed by scumbag right wing journalists in the past."

I apparently caught her out with that comment, because she snottily returned an email with a list of her "freelance" articles, all of which had been written for the right wing World Net Daily.

I find it very amusing and empowering that the American right wing is so obsessed with the left wing right now. I guess the size of the anti-war movement before the Iraq invasion scared the living hell out of them.

To paraphrase George W. Bush: "Good!"
