Ideologically hot "news" never becomes stale. As long as capitalism exist, it will be a saleable issue, that communism is Evil. On the other hand, ideologically cold news never becomes hot. The US killed 4 million people in Indochina in the Vietnam war, and you may even find this acknowledged on paragraph 17, p. A 14 of the newspaper story, but it's no big deal. It doesn't show that we're _bad._ jks
