Messagei think you're taking a bit too much for granted, wojtek. the north had embedded wage slavery, as many southerners of pre bellum US liked to point out. it still has, except for the fired and the banned. now it has a cross between wage slavery and destitution. one can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, to coin a phrase.

Yes. Abe should have let the South go. US would be a much better place today, even if neghboring a dreadful one to the South. Sort of like Canada and the US today.
