[lbo-talk] Queer Eye Drinking Game

We've only just started getting Queer Eye and I'd heard so much about it it was just one of those shows I couldn't not watch.

I've seen probably four episodes now, and have mized feelings about it. In some ways it's a trashing of every demographic it names. It's packed with cliches about gay men (and lesbians, the one mention I've seen) and running on stereotype overdrive. At the same time it presents "straight" men as hopeless tasteless and infantile. My son watches it like you'd watch a car crash.

But I can see the appeal. It's a camp version of every women's magazine which will instruct you how to make over you and your life, and it's interesting to see how that's directed at men, although I honestly wonder about the gender breakdown of the audience. And it's sometimes quite funny.

Still, I love the drinking game and will pass it on.
