[lbo-talk] Query: Work chits used in early USSR?

I have a dim recollection that a long time back, 
someone on the list--an/JKS maybe--mentioned 
in passing that work chits (script denominated in actual
hours worked) were used in the early USSR, and failed
as a currency pretty much in the way Marx predicted.
Is my recollection correct, or at least in the 
ball park?  And if so, can somebody provide a 
reference?
