Steve, the point about conspiracy theories is that they explain every possible concatenation of evidence. By responding to a conspiracy theory as you are doing here merely confirms the theory more strongly.
There is only one rational treatment of conspiracy theories -- ignore them. That way you can spend your time on something more fruitful, like working out new systems for winning games of solitaire or learning to balance the daily newspaper on your nose.
