Yep. Read his post and agree too. Great minds think alike, eh? !{)>
>You may be reading something into what I wrote that is not there.
Could be. I read this:
>And that study, mainly, underscores that a majority of people want to be
>able to end the nationalism, >the closed borders
That one phrase, "end the nationalism" just struck me as, well, a bit effusive, maybe? A little too optimistic? So I was wondering where you were coming from, what made you state that observation. Do tell, please.
I wasn't being literal about people singing The Internationale, really. I doubt most people outside of "Old Left" circles would have even heard of it.

Hmmm. Maybe. But international cuisine doth not international ideals make, right? I don't know how Toronto's economy's been lately. Maybe it's growing enough to keep everyone but a tiny minority of hardcore bigots content.
Heh. I just got to wondering how SARS impacted race relations in Toronto. Found this:
http://www.buzzardpress.com/acla/sars/healing_scars_post-sars.html
"Meanwhile, racial stereotyping and profiling continue to affect our Asian Canadian communities. Asian Canadians have been stigmatized and shunned on transit, in schools and other public places. A Brampton MPP even suggested that SARS is caused by federal immigration policy. "
