so called is right. it is what's called a constitution. but it's hopeless out of date, while the bill of rights is obviated by paranoid garbage like the patriot act, and the right wing courts system.

i'm coming to the same conclusion, wojtek, although in a slightly different context. it's amazing how the repugs are, in effect, controlling the US political system. aside from their control of the media and the MNC's control of economic issues, the repugs are controlling the political agenda. for instance, a democrat could be elected president in the 90s only by pretending to be a populist so he could beguile traditional democratic voters while, in reality, he was out republicaning the republicans. (very similar to what AS did in calif; pseudo populism.) now we have a republican in democratic clothing, clark, running for president as a democrat, who's as trustworthy as every other pentagon professional when he plays democrat.
one ray of hope is that davis lost in calif because he turned too far to the right. believe it or not, he once was a respectable liberal and today he's a failed conservative. pat hayden made an interesting comment to this effect today on Democracy Now today. if it's not too long, and amy posts it as she usually does her programs, i'll forward it to this message board. it's a very good explanation of how davis alienated the liberal democrats, and democratic grass roots, which largely voted for AS, as did the union rank and file.
