I'm starting to appreciate Coulter, a true performance artist/comedian in the Andy Kaufman tradition. And despite Dennis Miller's hard turn to the right, he can never approach Coulter's style & wit.

Still, this doesn't mean one should sit back and enjoy the show. Coulter needs whacking to be her best. Recently she was on Hannity & Colmes (another fine comedy team, though more in the Abbott & Costello vein) with John MacAurthur of Harpers who, silly thing, wants Bush impeached for -- get this -- lying to the American public in order to invade Iraq! Well, naturally Hannity wasn't gonna let him connect two sentences, and Colmes ("Haaaanityyyyy!") remained the Docile (in FoxSpeak, "Principled") Liberal, and this of course set the table for Coulter who let fly with:

"Liberals don't want to fight terrorism. You want there to be lots of 9/11's."

To which MacArthur (not getting the show or the joke) replied:

"It's not a question how to fight terrorism. It's a question of whether..."

See, what MacArthur should have said (instead of attempting to make a serious point on a comedy show) is, "No Ann, it's *you* who wants more 9/11s. I mean, after that pro-McCarthyism book, where do you go? A 747 into the Sears Tower, or dirty bombs detonated in the New York City subway system at rush hour, and presto! A new line of books attacking liberals for not wanting to defend America! More calls for nuking Mecca! Simply put, Ann, you need fresh material."

That would have sent Coulter and Hannity into hysterics. But instead, MacArthur tried to reason with Coulter, a serious waste of time. If libs and lefties go on Fox, they must realize what the venue's about and act accordingly. No more of this tired "serious debate" jazz.
